ABOUT ME

When I first started ‘weightlifting’ in high school, I used the dumbbells I had in my parents basement gym because I had no idea what I was doing and did not have the confidence to go to the gym. Everything I began to learn about weightlifting I researched on my own and continued workouts in my basement until I went to college.

When I went to college, I had no choice but to workout at my universities gym. My entire first year, I would go straight to the treadmill in fear of looking silly in the weights section because  I believed I ‘didn’t know enough’ about lifting. After my first year, I had finally built up the courage to venture into the weights section. One of the first things I noticed was that almost every time I went to the gym I was the only woman there. This made me start thinking: ‘Why are women taught to do only cardio instead of weightlift ?’ This made no sense to me, as I knew that men and women both needed the same kind of exercise when it came to losing fat and gaining muscle. Instead, women are told they will ‘get bulky’ if they lift, when in fact, I looked the most lean and toned I had ever looked due to weightlifting. Years of only doing cardio did nothing except make me ‘skinny fat’ and hungry.

Instead of letting this steer me away from the weights section, I used this as motivation to learn  as much as I could about lifting so that I could walk into that section feeling confident, and feeling like I belonged as much as these men did. After tons of research and forcing myself to go to the weights area even when I felt intimidated, it slowly became a place of peace and comfort for me instead of a place of anxiety. Seeing my body build muscle and pushing myself made me feel proud and powerful.

In my friend group, I became known as “the gym rat,” and I ended up converting most of my friends to the weights area as well after dragging them to the gym with me a few times. Seeing  how confident learning to lift made all of my friends as well, I knew this was something more women needed to try and I decided to pursue a career in fitness.

Out of fear of being judged, I hesitated posting any fitness content until I started my TikTok in 2021 where I quickly gained a following. My goal on this account was to educate women on weightlifting in a way that I didn’t have access to when I first started lifting nearly 10 years ago. As an in-person trainer, I could see first hand what my clients were struggling with during our sessions. After posting videos on proper form, how to create an effective workout, as well as  afitness and nutrition tips, I had tons of women reach out about training online with me. Two years and lots of hard work later, MadActive was born.

I waited to make this app until I felt like I genuinely had all the tools and knowledge available to help as  many women as possible achieve real, attainable results. My goal in creating this app is to help you feel confident in the weight room, and to help you become the most strong and empowered version of yourself. As you start your journey and begin to see your body transform, I want to be that little voice of guidance and support in your phone that I wish I would’ve had when I first started lifting.

I want to encourage a world where women walk into the weight room and feel like they belong. I am so excited to work with you and help you become the most confident and empowered, badass version of you! Thank you for trusting me on your journey ♡

  • It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.
